The Benefits of Honey

Honey is a naturally sweet nectar bees make for their food and to heat their homes for the winter. Bees collect the nectar from flowers, then break down the nectar into simple sugars making golden honey. The color of honey comes from the trees and plants that the bee collects producing a color ranging from light to dark. The darker the honey the more antioxidants. Honey is used topically with manuka medical grade for wound care, ingested for its medicinal benefits, and as an added sugar for flavoring.

Honey has been used since ancient times dating back 5500 years ago. Today honey is used as an alternative for clinical conditions. Honey in its most natural form has the most benefits, unfiltered and raw is the best. Many companies still adulterate their honey so you need to read the label to make sure its pure. It is illegal in many countries to adulterate honey. The United States doesn’t have any laws on it so read your labels, people!

Over the years, many scientists have researched the benefits of honey and the studies show it has many medicinal properties. Some of the research conducted shows evidence that honey has strong antimicrobial, anticancer, antimetastatic, and anti-inflammatory properties. it also controls diabetes mellitus, asthma, cardiovascular disease, neurological issues, and gastrointestinal diseases. Honey also is full of zinc, antioxidants, amino acids, iron, vitamins, and minerals.

Honey never has to be stored in the refrigerator unless you ferment it with fruit and herbs that have a high water content. Honey doesn’t expire and can be stored unopened on a shelf for a long time.

Honey on its own is therapeutic, infused with organic herbs makes for a healthy alternative for what ails you.

We have taken local raw and unfiltered mesquite honey and infused it with organic medicinal herbs. Taking honey as an alternative for healing and illness is faster and safer than over-the-counter medications. There are no side effects from honey or the herbs unless you have known allergies.

As always if on medications or have allergies to honey or the herbs it contains seek medical advice.

We are showcasing our wild honey at local events in Pima County. See our events page to see where we will be next.
